Avi Primor – Program Patron in israel
Avi Primor, former Israeli ambassador to Germany, is the program patron in Israel
»Since 2005, EUROPEANS FOR PEACE has worked in a remarkable way for intensification of German-Israeli relations, including through the funding of encounters between young Israelis and Germans. The program has thereby made an important contribution to the dialogue between the two countries by raising awareness of the past yet being oriented to the future. EUROPEANS FOR PEACE also involves young people in this dialogue from Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the Palestinian territories. Exemplifying the goals of EUROPEANS FOR PEACE are projects such as the cooperation between the Kibutz Maagan Michael and a high school in Dußlingen in southern Germany, whereby young people jointly analyse the migration experiences of people from Germany and Israel and look for parallels. In the trilateral project “Righteous Among the Nations”, young Israelis, Poles and Germans investigate together the lives of interviewed rescuers and survivors. With their project, they not only stimulate the dialogue between their home countries, but also between their generations.«
